Richard Nelson's acclaimed series of contemporary plays exploring an ever-changing America through the sharp lens of one New York family comes to a dramatic conclusion with Sorry and Regular Singing. This latest repertory duo, following Studio Theatre's successful production of the first two works in 2013, finds the Apples struggling with personal and political issues as they prepare to move their ailing uncle into an assisted-care facility on the morning of Obama's 2012 reelection. And in the final work, Regular Singing, the clan readies themselves for the death of a family member on the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination with a final, insightful round of self-examination. The New York Times says Nelson's series "is quietly turning into one of the great accomplishments in American theater to date in this century," and an outstanding ensemble of D.C. actors stand ready to carry it to its emotionally powerful end at the Milton Theatre.
