With special permission from Sondheim himself, this completely new revue created by Artistic director Eric Schaeffer and David Loud plays only at Signature and will never be seen again. Whether you’d like to race Into the Woods with Sweeney Todd and a few Assassins, enjoy A Little Night Music at the Follies on a Saturday Night, or simply relish a Sunday in the Park with George, you’ll be in good Company when six Signature favorites and a gorgeous 16-piece orchestra take the stage to honor the genius himself, Stephen Sondheim.

"...Signature has built its reputation on its productions of Sondheim's works, beginning with a 1991 production of Sweeney Todd that received five Helen Hayes Awards including Outstanding Resident Musical and encompassing productions of Road Show and West Side Story planned for next season. David Loud and Eric Schaeffer created the current show as a way to thank Sondheim for his support of the theater throughout its 25-year history."

"...There are a couple of things that make this revue stand out. The first is the choice of material. I like hearing songs from West Side Story, Gypsy and someone sing Send in the Clowns as much as the next guy, but hearing a gorgeous David Loud six part harmony arrangement put to "I Wish I Could Forget You" from Passion gets me really excited. A few other little heard gems include "Goodbye for Now" which was written for the movie Reds and sung beautifully here by Kellee Knighten Hough. If you don't remember the lyrics from the movie, it's because the melody was only used in the finished film. Hearing songs cut from a Broadway show gets my inner musical theatre geek on so putting "Who Could Be Blue" and "Little White House," which were both dropped from Follies into this revue, is a definite plus as are the vocal stylings of Stephanie Waters and Austin Colby."

Simply Sondheim is a match made in musical heaven. The pedigree alone is promising. Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, the famed composer known as Signature Theatre’s signature, has provided fodder for numerous musical revues, including the bio-revue Sondheim on Sondheim that played Broadway several seasons back, and Side By Side By Sondheim which has been around since the 1970s and was produced at Signature in 2011.
