"...There are some really nice audience interactions in this show, making it feel more immersive than a "regular" play. At one point, the entire audience let out a loud "ooooh" when a particularly good insult was given and everyone gasped when Molly kissed Peter. One of the themes of Peter and the Starcatcher is summed up by the line "Things are only worth what you're willing to give up for them" and I think you'll be happy to give up a few hours of your day to see Peter and the Starcatcher by Maryland Ensemble Theatre. It is not just another of the many Peter Pan sequels, prequels, retellings, or reimaginings. It's a theater experience that will make you laugh and sigh and be thankful that you relaxed your ban on Peter Pan retellings just this once. Go see it!"

Have faith that you'll absolutely love what's happening on the Maryland Ensemble Theatre's main stage this spring and you'll find yourself sprouting wings that will fly you right into downtown historic Frederick for their outstanding production of Peter and The Star Catcher. Based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, written by Rick Elice with Music by Wayne Barker, this marvelously mesmerizing tale is the official beginning of how the boy who wouldn't grow up, better known as Peter Pan, came to be. "...Director Herber keeps the action moving at a breakneck pace, with the cast utilizing the intimate theatre space cleverly and with child-like playfulness. No props are what they seem to be, which adds to the delicious fun and storytelling. Kitchen objects are re-purposed as weapons, for example. Props master Katie Rattigan must have had a field day making all of them. Set designer Cecilia Lee and costume designer Stephanie Ryder brought their A-games to this production, providing the background and wardrobe for the actors to play and immerse themselves in the imaginative adventures."
