Love Jones the Musical at The National Theatre

When it hit the big screen in 1997, Love Jones left filmgoers swooning over the courtship of two young star-crossed lovers set to the soulful sounds of Maxwell, Cassandra Wilson and more. Two decades later, the Larenz Tate-Nia Long romantic drama has inspired a new stage adaptation in Brooklyn, featuring musical collaboration from MC Lyte, Musiq Soulchild, Marsha Ambrosius, Chrisette Michele, Raheem DeVaughn and Dave Hollister. Love Jones the Musical once again traces the complicated relationship between poet Darius Lovehall and photographer Nina Mosley whose paths initially cross at a boho nightclub in Chicago. Helmed by the film's original director Theodore Witcher, this stirring musical is coming to the stage at the National Theatre in Washington DC.
