The Iliad comes to life in this visceral modern-day retelling. Honoring the great tradition of epic poetry, the urgency of Homer's classic bursts forth from a single narrator — Taffety Punk company member Esther Williamson. Live music composed and performed by Hand Grenade Job, an ethereal punk band devoted to "hymns of undoing". The story of Achilles' rage and Hector's passion lives on as a warning to us all of the perils of war and wrath. Wars end, but is there an end to war?

"...Director Dan Crane reveals a confident guiding hand that allows the wires to hang out - literally. The Poet freely drinks water throughout the show, and Hand Grenade Job does not muffle the sound of its instrumental transitions. In other words, there is a casual transparency at work in An Iliad. It strikes the difficult balance of being both epic and relatable, both energetic and reflective."

"...The technical errors here are frustrating because so much of An Iliad works like gangbusters. Crista Noel Smith has conceived a lovely sandscape for Williamson to create and reshape over the course of the play. And when the whole audience can see the same show, Williamson's a wonder. I'm a big fan of Taffety Punk's aesthetic and style. I love their punk-influenced, progressive takes on classics and their commitment to affordability. Unfortunately An Iliad is too often a production at war against its own story."
